    YOUTH ACTIVITIES While the grown-ups quench their thirst for knowledge, the kids have fun and develop their abilities. Sports and Science Challenge Day Camps (in cooperation with various faculties and PEPS) Weeks of July 4, July 11, and August 8, 2016 Ages 12 to 14 The Sports and Science Challenge Camp (three one-week sessions) lets kids experience a variety of scientific and sports activities. Handson workshops in the afternoon give campers a chance to satisfy their interest in and curiosity about science. Mornings are devoted to sports activities. Information and registration: INAF Day Camps Aliment’Terre: An Adventure Served Up on a Platter Weeks of July 18 and 25 and August 1 and 8, 2016 Ages 10 to 12 Aliment’Terre is a day camp that sends kids out on an adventure based on what we eat—from the garden to the kitchen—as they explore foods and where they come from through playful and enjoyable indoor and outdoor workshops. Counsellors are energetic students qualified in nutrition, agronomy, and food science and technologies. Organized by the Institute of Nutrition and Functional Foods in cooperation with the Roger van den Hende Botanical Garden. Information and registration: • PEPS Day Camps July 27 to August 26, 2016 Ages 6 to 17 A variety of athletic day camps for young people, including swimming, climbing, soccer, tennis, trampoline, cooking, science, and more. Information and registration: Université Laval Music Day Camp (in partnership with the Centre des loisirs St-Sacrement) Introductory music camps (ages 5 to 8) July 18 to 22, 2016 (Monday to Friday) August 22 to 26, 2016 (Monday to Friday) Intensive camps with instrument instruction (ages 9 to 15) July 25 to August 5, 2016 (Monday to Friday) August 8 to 19, 2016 (Monday to Friday) Information and registration: Centre des loisirs St-Sacrement 418 681-7800 • French Immersion Program in Québec City! at Collège Saint-Charles-Garnier July 3 to August 5, 2016 Université Laval will play host to a group of 400 students from around the globe for a five-week French immersion program in Québec City. Monday to Friday students attend classes from 8:30 a.m. to noon and participate in a variety of on-campus activities in the afternoons. Since it is an immersion program, they are required to speak French at all times. Information and registration: OTHER COURSES Regular summer courses May 2 to August 15, 2016 Université Laval offers some 1,300 regular courses on campus during the summer semester. These courses can help you progress in your university program or explore new fields. Summer sessions vary in length from 1 to 15 weeks depending on the courses chosen. Starting March 23, 2016, you will be able to select the “Summer 2016” option on the advanced course directory search form to view the courses on offer. Agreement with Bureau de la coopération universitaire (formerly CREPUQ) Under this agreement, regular students enrolled at a Québec university (the “home school”) can take one or more courses at another Québec institution of higher learning (the “host school”) as part of their program of study. For more information, visit Distance Learning Year in, year out, some 150 distance courses are offered in various fields during the summer semester. Most of these courses run for 11 weeks, beginning in early May and ending around July 20, 2016.
